Introduction

Enteric diseases are a common problem in modern pig production worldwide. The diseases are often related to certain animal age categories (e.g. neonatal diarrhea, post-weaning diarrhea) and therefore it is vital to consider the young-age diarrhea in order to achieve the desired growth rate in pigs. A healthy gut of a pig is inhabited by hundreds of species of microorganisms, which together form a microbial community often referred to as beneficial microflora or, more appropriately, microbiota. DIABOULARD is a phytogenic antidiarrheal supplement. It is a unique combination of selected fatty acids with naturally occurring substances derived from herbs that possess strong anti- diarrheal properties also benefits from medium-chain fatty acids and probiotics help in controlling the diarrhea from different origins. These constituents synergistically prevent digestive upsets due to bacterial overgrowth or viral infections. The biologically active phytocompounds in DIABOULARD acts at various levels, extracellular and intracellular to inhibit diarrhoea-causing pathogens as well as its enterotoxins.
